We walked out of Leon, then spent most of the day walking along the road--probably the least lovely of all the places to walk, but it was not bad. Every time I start to get impatient and think, "Are we there yet? I am tired of walking!" I remind myself, "What did I come here to do? Oh yeah, walk." Not aimlessly, no, but I did come for a walking pilgrimage. If I just wanted to go to Santiago, I could just fly there. The destination is super important, but so is every step along the way. I don't want to waste a single step, not even the ones I don't feel like taking! A seminarian once told me that you can make every step you take a prayer by offering each step for an intention, and offering all for Jesus. Now is as good a time to practice that as any! Hopefully if I practice now, after this pilgrimage I can keep walking like that through "normal" everyday life.
Holiness in everything! All for Jesus!
